Check if your device works with ChatWallet
- Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, test your connectivity by opening your browser or an App.
- Check to see if your device and Apps are up to date.
For Android: Go to Settings > Systems > Software Update.
For iOS: Go to Settings > General > Software Update. - Update WhatsApp and your browser through Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
- Test WhatsApp by sending a message to someone.
- Check that you can receive SMS by asking someone to send you a message.
- Make sure you’re using the correct Absa ChatWallet number: 086 000 2428.
- Type Hi in the chat.
- Check your privacy settings:
For Android: Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions.
For iOS: Go to Settings > WhatsApp > Permissions. - Make sure WhatsApp has permission to use the internet, send notifications, and any other needed permissions.
- Make sure your camera is working for a possible facial scan.
- You have successfully checked if your device works with ChatWallet!

Register for ChatWallet
- Save Absa ChatWallet (086 000 2428) on your device contacts
- Open WhatsApp on your device, then tap Absa ChatWallet
- Type Hi to register, select New to ChatWallet, then select Get started
- Tap on “I have one” if you have an ID number
- Enter your South African ID number, then tap Next
- Accept the Privacy statement
- Tap Scan my face and allow WhatsApp to access your camera
- Your face will be scanned. Confirm the scan details
- Go back to WhatsApp, then Confirm details
- Enter your 5-digit Online banking PIN, or create a new PIN if you do not have an online banking code
- You have successfully registered for ChatWallet!

Log into ChatWallet
- Open WhatsApp on your device
- Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (086000 2428)
- WhatsApp ‘Hi’ in the chat
- Tap on Start Banking/Enter my PIN
- Enter your 5-digit PIN (This 5-digit PIN is the PIN you created when you set up your ChatWallet. If you have Online Banking, use the same PIN that you use to login to your Online Banking.)

Reset Your ChatWallet PIN
Check that you have data, mobile data is on, and that both WhatsApp and your browser are up to date.
1. Open WhatsApp on your device.
2. WhatsApp "Hi" to Absa ChatWallet (086000 2428).
You’ll get one of two options:
Start Banking
Enter my PIN / Forgot my Wallet PIN
3. Tap Start Banking
4. Select Forgot your Digital PIN
5. Tap Allow camera access and then scan your face.
6. Tap Let’s begin
7. Tap Allow access Motion and Orientation
8. Create your new 5-digit PIN
9. Confirm your new 5-digit PIN
10. Tap Continue to my wallet
10. You have successfully reset your PIN!
3. Select Forgot my Wallet PIN
4. Enter your password to verify yourself.
5. Create a new 5-digit PIN then tap Continue
6. Confirm your new 5-digit PIN then tap Continue
7. You have successfully reset your PIN!

Reset your ChatWallet Password
Check that you have data, mobile data is on, and that both WhatsApp and your browser are up to date.
- Open WhatsApp on your device
- WhatsApp "Hi" to Absa ChatWallet (086000 2428)
- Tap Forgot password
Note: You can use your account again 12 hours after changing your password - Tap Reset Wallet PIN
- Create your new 5-digit PIN and tap Confirm
- Create a new password then tap Confirm
- Create an easy-to-remember password hint
- Tap Go to my wallet
- You have successfully reset your Password!

Buy airtime, data or electricity using ChatWallet

Withdraw money on ChatWallet
- Open WhatsApp on your device
- WhatsApp "Hi" to Absa ChatWallet (086 000 2428)
- Click on Start Banking/Enter pin
- Type in your ChatWallet PIN (5 digits)
- Tap More options and tap Main menu
- Select Withdraw Money and Tap Amount
- Select an amount from the list or tap own amount and enter the relevant amount
- Enter a 6-digit ATM PIN to be used at the ATM
- A CashSend SMS will be sent to your cell phone number
- Go to an ATM and select Cashless withdrawal
- Enter your 10-digit code that you received in your messages (SMS)
- Enter your 6-digit Withdrawal access code (this is not your 5-digit login pin)
- Your ATM withdrawal is successful!
Note: If you cannot recall the 6 digit withdrawal access code, reset your CashSend withdrawal pin.

Make Payments on ChatWallet
- Open WhatsApp on your device
- WhatsApp "Hi" to Absa ChatWallet (086000 2428)
- Click on Start Banking
- Type in your ChatWallet PIN
- Tap Pay (Customer has the option to choose between Buy, Pay or More options)
- Select a Cellphone Number or A bank account
- Follow the steps in the chat
- You have successfully made a Payment on ChatWallet!

Reset your CashSend 6-digit access code on ChatWallet
- Open WhatsApp on your device
- WhatsApp "Hi" to Absa ChatWallet (086 000 2428)
- Tap on Start Banking/Enter pin
- Type in your ChatWallet PIN (5 digits)
- Tap More options
- Tap Wallet Options/Tap My transactions
- Tap Manage Cashsends/Tap Transaction list and choose Unredeemed withdrawals (Do not select Change PIN as this is your Log in PIN for Chat Wallet)
- Tap Unredeemed CashSends/Tap View withdrawals
- Select the unredeemed CashSend/withdrawal that you would like to view
- Select CashSend options/Withdrawal options
- Select “Change ATM access code”/”Change access code”
- Type in a 6-digit access code to be used at the ATM or participating retailer
- Cashsend/Withdrawal access code created successfully
- Go to an ATM and select Cashless withdrawal/Go to the participating retailer
- Enter your 10-digit Withdrawal code that you received in your messages (SMS)
- Enter your 6-digit access code (this is not your 5-digit log in pin)
- Your ATM withdrawal is successful!
Note: Under “CashSend options”/”Withdrawal options”, you can also “Cancel cashsend”/”Cancel withdrawal” or “Resend withdrawal SMS” .
