  • Check if ChatWallet works on your device

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, then open your browser or any App. 
    2. Check if your device software is up to date  
      For Android: Go to Settings > Systems > Software Update 
      For iOS: Go to Settings > General > Software Update
    3.  Check if your Apps are up to date 
      Update WhatsApp and your browser through Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS)
    4. Test WhatsApp by sending a message to someone
    5. Check that you can receive SMS by asking someone to send you a message 
    6. Make sure you’re using the correct Absa ChatWallet number: 086 000 2428
    7. Check your privacy settings 
      For Android: Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions 
      For iOS: Go to Settings > WhatsApp > Permissions 
      Make sure WhatsApp has permission to use the internet, send notifications, and any other needed permissions
    8. Make sure your camera is working for a possible facial scan
    9. You have successfully checked if your device works with ChatWallet! 
  • Register for ChatWallet

    1. Save Absa ChatWallet (086 000 2428) on your device contacts
    2. Open WhatsApp on your device, then tap Absa ChatWallet
    3. Type Hi to register, select New to ChatWallet, then select Get started
    4. Tap on “I have one” if you have an ID number
    5. Enter your South African ID number, then tap Next
    6. Accept the Privacy statement
    7. Tap Scan my face and allow WhatsApp to access your camera
    8. Your face will be scanned. Confirm the scan details
    9. Go back to WhatsApp, then Confirm details
    10. Enter your 5-digit Online banking PIN, or create a new PIN if you do not have an online banking code
    11. You have successfully registered for ChatWallet!

  • Log into ChatWallet

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi
    4. Tap Enter my PIN
    5. Type in your 5-digit ChatWallet PIN (If you have the Banking App, you may use your Banking App PIN.)
    6. You have successfully logged in to your ChatWallet!
  • Reset Your ChatWallet PIN

    Check that you have data, mobile data is on, and that both WhatsApp and your browser are up to date.

      1. Open WhatsApp on your device

      2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428)

      3. Type Hi 

    You’ll get one of two options:

    Enter my PIN

    Forgot my Wallet PIN

    4.     Tap Enter my PIN

    5.     Select Forgot your Digital PIN

    6.     Tap Allow camera access and scan your face

    7.     Tap Let’s begin

    8.     Tap Allow access Motion and Orientation

    9.     Create your new 5-digit PIN 

    10.     Confirm your new 5-digit PIN, then tap Continue to my Wallet

    11.     You have successfully reset your PIN!

    4. Tap Forgot my Wallet PIN 

    5. Enter your password to verify yourself 

    6. Create a new 5-digit PIN then tap Continue

    7. Confirm your new 5-digit PIN then tap Continue

    8. You have successfully reset your PIN!

     

     

     

  • Reset your ChatWallet Password

    Check that you have data, mobile data is on, and that both WhatsApp and your browser are up to date.

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi in the chat
    4. Tap Forgot password (you can use your account again 12 hours after changing your password)
    5. Tap Reset Wallet PIN
    6. Create your new 5-digit PIN, then tap Confirm
    7. Create a new password then tap Confirm
    8. Create an easy-to-remember password hint
    9. Tap Go to my wallet
    10. You have successfully reset your Password!

    Please note you can only use your account again 12 hours after changing your password

  • Buy airtime, data or electricity using ChatWallet

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi 
    4. Tap on Enter my PIN
    5. Type in your ChatWallet PIN
    6. Tap Buy 
    7. Select Airtime or Data
    8. Follow the steps in the chat

  • Withdraw money on ChatWallet

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi 
    4. Click on Enter my pin
    5. Type in your ChatWallet PIN
    6. Tap More options, then tap Main menu
    7. Select Withdraw Money, then Tap Amount
    8. Select an amount from the list or tap Own amount, then enter your amount
    9. Enter a 6-digit ATM PIN to be used at the ATM
    10. A CashSend SMS will be sent to your cellphone number
    11. Go to an Absa ATM and select Cashless withdrawal, or go to a participating retailer 
    12. Enter your 10-digit code that you received via SMS
    13. Enter your 6-digit Withdrawal access code (this is not your 5-digit login PIN)
    14. You have successfully withdrawn your money! 

    Note: If you cannot recall the 6 digit withdrawal access code, reset your CashSend withdrawal pin.

  • Make Payments on ChatWallet

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi 
    4. Tap on Enter my PIN
    5. Type in your ChatWallet PIN
    6. Tap Pay 
    7. Select a Cellphone Number or A bank account
    8. Follow the steps in the chat
  • Reset your CashSend 6-digit access code on ChatWallet

    1. Open WhatsApp on your device
    2. Open your chat with Absa ChatWallet (0860 002 428) 
    3. Type Hi
    4. Tap Enter my pin, then type in your ChatWallet PIN
    5. Tap More options
    6. Tap Wallet Options/Tap My transactions
    7. Tap Manage CashSends/Tap Transaction list, then choose Unredeemed withdrawals
    8. Tap Unredeemed CashSends/Tap View withdrawals
    9. Select the unredeemed CashSend/withdrawal that you would like to view
    10. Select CashSend options/Withdrawal options
    11. Select Change ATM access code/Change access code
    12. Type in a 6-digit access code to be used at the ATM or participating retailer
    13. You have successfully reset your CashSend 6-digit access code! 

    Note: Under “CashSend options”/”Withdrawal options”, you can also “Cancel cashsend”/”Cancel withdrawal” or “Resend withdrawal SMS”.
