What are foreign banknotes and how can I get them?

Foreign banknotes are physical currencies from other countries that you can order before you travel. Absa allows you to conveniently get major foreign currencies delivered to your doorstep, helping you avoid using ATMs abroad and pay with confidence.

How do I apply for foreign currency delivery?

To apply, complete the forex delivery form with your required currency and amount. Email the signed form along with your ID, passport and travel itinerary to FXdeliveries@absa.africa. The FX Delivery team will contact you to confirm and validate your request.

What documents are required to order foreign banknotes?

You need to provide a completed and signed forex delivery form, a valid ID, your passport, and your travel itinerary. You must also present your original identity documents when receiving your foreign currency.

How long does it take to receive foreign currency?

Orders placed before 12pm from Monday to Friday are delivered the next business day. Orders placed after 12pm are delivered within the next two working days, subject to currency availability.

How is payment processed for foreign banknotes?

Your request is processed at the current exchange rate. Your Absa transactional account will be debited with the Rand value, including commission, VAT, and delivery costs.

Who can use the FX Delivery service?

FX Delivery is available to Absa Gold, Premium, Ultimate, Ultimate Plus, Private Bank, and Wealth clients only.

Is foreign currency delivery safe?

Yes, the service is designed to be safe and convenient. You avoid carrying large amounts of cash from ATMs abroad and receive your currency securely at your doorstep, with identity verification upon delivery.

What should I know before ordering foreign banknotes?

How to apply

Step 1. Fill in the Forex Business Delivery form and a Third-party form for each business traveller. Include the traveller’s itinerary, required products, currency and amount.*
Step 2. Email the completed and signed forms, along with the traveller’s ID, passport and travel itinerary, to FXdeliveries@absa.africa. If travelling under an omnibus facility, include an authorisation letter.
Step 3. The Forex Delivery team will contact you to confirm and validate your request.
Step 4. Your request will be processed at the current exchange rate and your Absa business transactional account** will be debited with the corresponding Rand value, including commission, VAT and associated delivery costs.
Step 5. Orders placed before 12:00 (Monday to Friday) will be delivered the next business day.
Orders placed after 12:00 (Monday to Friday) will be delivered within the next two business days.
Step 6. Ensure the business traveller has their original identity documents when receiving the forex delivery.

CCD couriers will schedule your forex delivery at convenient time for you

Make sure you sign for your forex delivery yourself

Have your identification document (ID book/card or passport) ready.

Ensure the CCD Couriers delivery driver is in full uniform, is able to identify themselves as a CCD Couriers employee with a company ID.
