What you need to know
 

  • How it works

    Choose one of three easy ways to renew your Smart ID.

    Book online:

    1. Go to the secure booking portal.
    2. Type in your ID number.
    3. Choose how you’d like to receive your booking confirmation – SMS, email or both.
    4. Pick a branch and appointment time.
    5. Tap Submit.


    Book on your Banking App:

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App.
    2. Go to Menu.
    3. Tap Government Services.
    4. Follow the prompts to complete your booking.

      Walk into a branch:
      Alternatively, you can simply walk into a selected Absa branch. We’ll help you with your Smart ID renewal.
       

    After booking online or on your Banking App:

    • You’ll get an email or SMS confirmation, which you must bring to your appointment; and
    • You pay for your ID at your selected branch, not online.
       

    To renew your Smart ID at Absa, you must have an Absa Cheque or Savings account.
