How to register/login

  • How to link a new device

    1. Open your Absa Banking App
    2. Select Link this device
      Enter your South African ID number
      Tap Next
    3. Tick to accept the Terms and Conditions
      Tap Scan my face
    4. Tap on Allow to access your phone’s camera
    5. Look directly at your phone to scan your face
    6. A verification message will be sent to your app or cellphone number
      Tap Next
    7. Approve the verification message sent to your app or cellphone number
    8. Enter your new device nickname or tap Skip to continue
    9. Create a new 5-digit passcode
      Re-enter the new passcode to confirm
    10. Your passcode is successfully created
      You may enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app (depending on your device)
    11. Your device is successfully linked
      Tap Done

    Note: This linking process is only available if you have a valid South Africa ID number and photo registered with the Department of Home Affairs.

    Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the Absa Banking App and that your cellphone number is updated with Absa.

  • How to link a new device (if you have your current device)

     

    1. Open your Absa App on your new device
    2. Tap I’m already with Absa
    3. Tap Log in
      Enter your access account number, PIN number and your user number
      Tap Log in
    4. Enter the missing characters of your online password
      Tap Continue
    5. Accept the verification request sent to your current device
    6. Enter your new device nickname or select Skip to continue
    7. Create a new 5-digit passcode
      Re-enter the new passcode to confirm
    8. Passcode is successfully created
      Dependent on your device you may enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app
    9. Select Yes to accept new device as your verification device
    10. Accept the verification request sent to your current device
    11. Your new device is successfully linked

  • How to re-link a device (if you don't have a current device)

    1. Open your Absa App
    2. Tap I’m already with Absa
    3. Tap Log in
      Enter your access account number, PIN number and your user number
      Tap Log in
    4. Enter the missing characters of your online password
      Tap Continue
    5. On the Verification screen select I’m not receiving my verification
      Select I deleted and reinstalled the app
      Note: the current verification device will be de-linked

      Tap Confirm
    6. Enter the Passcode for the app that you have deleted
      Enter your ATM card number and PIN
      Tap Continue
    7. Enter your new device nickname or select ‘Skip’ to continue
    8. Create a new 5-digit passcode
      Re-enter the new passcode to confirm
    9. Passcode is successfully created
      Dependent on your device you may enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app
    10. Tap Continue
    11. Your device is successfully re-linked

  • Register

    1. Download your Absa Banking App from Google Play or your App Store
    2. Open your Absa Banking App and tap I already have an account
    3. Select Personal account and Enter your ID number
    4. Agree to the Privacy Statement
    5. Tap Scan my face and allow your Absa Banking app to access your camera
    6. Then your face will be scanned, and confirm the scan details
    7. Accept the verification message sent to you
    8. Select the account to be charged, agree to the Personal Client Agreement and tap Continue
    9. Create your digital banking PIN then tap Confirm PIN
    10. Create your passcode, re-enter your passcode to confirm
    11. Enable Touch ID or Facial recognition
    12. Confirm your registration details then tap Complete registration
    13. You have successfully registered!

  • Link a new device with AbsaID Facial Biometrics

    1. Open the Absa Banking App on your device
    2. Tap on I already have an account
    3. Enter your South African ID number, then tap Next
    4. Accept the Privacy statement
    5. Tap Scan my face and allow your Absa Banking app to access your camera
    6. Then your face will be scanned, and confirm the scan details
    7. Select the profile you would like to link
    8. Create a device nickname or skip it
    9. Create your 5-digit app passcode and re-enter the passcode then tap Confirm
    10. Enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app
    11. Select Touch ID or Facial recognition to make this your Verification device then tap Continue
    12. You have successfully linked your new device!

  • How to reset your Absa Online Banking PIN and Password using AbsaID Facial Biometrics

    1. On the Absa Online Banking login page, click Reset PIN
    2. Enter your Access account number, User number and the CAPTCHA code
      Click Next
    3. Accept the verification request sent to your primary device
    4. Accept the Terms and Conditions and click Allow camera access
    5. Scan your face by looking directly at your phone
    6. Enter your new Absa Online Banking PIN and click Confirm
      You have successfully reset your Absa Online Banking PIN
    7. To reset your Absa Online Banking Password, click Change my password?
    8. Enter your new Password
      Click Confirm
    9. You have successfully reset your Absa Online Banking Password

  • Register a Non-Transactional Account

    1. Open the Absa Banking App on your device
    2. Tap on I already have an account
    3. Select Personal account and tap Next
    4. Enter your ID number then tap Next
    5. Accept the Terms and Conditions
    6. Tap Scan my face and allow your Absa Banking app to access your camera
    7. Then your face will be scanned, and confirm the scan details
    8. View Personal details and tap verify my details
    9. Accept the verification message sent to you
    10.  Accept the Personal Client Agreement and tap Continue
    11.  Create a 5-digit PIN and tap Confirm PIN.
    12. Create your 5-digit app passcode and re-enter your passcode then tap Confirm
    13. Enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app and tap Continue
    14. Confirm your registration details then tap Complete registration
    15. You have Successfully registered your non-transactional account!

  • Create credentials on your App using AbsaID Facial Biometrics

    1. Open the Absa Banking App on your device
    2. Tap on link this device
    3. Enter your ID number, and tap Next
    4. Accept the Privacy statement to scan your face and verify your identity
    5. Tap Scan my face and allow your Absa Banking app to access your camera
    6. Then your face will be scanned, and confirm the scan details
    7. Create your digital banking password then tap Confirm password
    8. Create your passcode and re-enter your passcode to confirm
    9. Enable Touch ID or Facial recognition for your app and tap Continue
    10. Confirm your registration details then tap Complete registration
    11. You have successfully created your AbsaID credentials!

    1. On the Absa Banking App logon screen click on Forgot Passcode?
    2. Tap Reset passcode
    3. Enter your Access account number, PIN and User number
    4. Tap Log in to continue

How to make payments

  • Add and pay an Absa listed beneficiary

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Pay
    3. Select Pay a bill (Absa listed beneficiary)
    4. Select an institution and fill in Beneficiary details and tap Next
    5. Add the amount you would like to pay
    6. Tap Next and accept the verification request
    7. You have successfully paid and added an Absa listed beneficiary!

    Note: Some institutions such as SARS, municipalities or department stores can't be paid normally because Absa has already added them as beneficiaries. These types of beneficiaries are called 'Absa listed beneficiaries'.

  • Redeem an in-coming SWIFT transaction

    1. A SWIFT payment SMS is sent to your cellphone
    2. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    3. Tap Menu, tap International Banking, then select SWIFT
    4. Select Inbound, incoming SWIFT transactions are displayed with an option to share your account details
    5. Select Incoming SWIFT transaction to redeem
    6. Select Sender type (Individual or Company), Reason for Payment and Sub-category for Payment
    7. Tap Next
    8. A summary of the transaction is displayed with a Reserve Bank Declaration
    9. Tap Accept transaction
    10. You have successfully redeemed your incoming SWIFT transaction!

  • Make an immediate interbank payment (IIP)

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Pay, then tap Pay Someone New
    3. Enter the amount and select the relevant account
    4. Select  Use their account details
    5. Enter beneficiary details and the beneficiary name, select a bank then enter the account number
    6. Tap Next and enter a beneficiary reference
    7. Select Immediate interbank payment then tap pay
    8. Confirm the payment details and accept the disclaimer by clicking Accept
    9. A final payment confirmation will pop up and tap Accept
    10. You have successfully made an Immediate interbank payment!

  • Make a once-off CashSend

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap the CashSend icon and select Once-off CashSend
    3. Enter an amount
    4. Enter the recipients mobile number, name and surname
    5. Enter your reference, then enter a 6-digit ATM access PIN and tap Next
    6. Enter your reference, access PIN, tap Next
    7. Confirm the beneficiary’s details  and tap CashSend
    8. For security reasons, you may share the ATM access PIN with the recipient 
    9. You have successfully sent a CashSend!

How to buy prepaid 

  • Buy prepaid electricity for a new beneficiary

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Buy Electricity icon in the top right of the screen
    3. Tap Buy for someone new, enter Beneficiary name, meter number and notification.
    4. Tap Next and confirm the Meter details displayed on the screen.
    5. Tap Continue and select the account you would like to use, then enter the amount
    6. Select your notification option (how you would like to receive your token).
    7. Tap Continue and tap Purchase to confirm
    8. On the Confirm Purchase screen, accept the acknowledgement, then tap Purchase
    9. Accept the verification request that pops up
    10. Your token will display on the screen, then tap done
    11. You have successfully purchased your prepaid electricity!

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Buy electricity icon on the top right of screen, then select beneficiary from the screen
    3. On the Purchase details screen, select the account you would like to use
      Enter the amount, select your notification option (how you would like to receive your token). Tap Next
    4. On the Confirm Purchase screen accept the acknowledgement
    5. Tap Confirm Purchase, then accept the verification request that pops up
    6. Your token will display on the screen. Tap done
    7. You have successfully purchased prepaid electricity!

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Buy electricity on the top right of the screen
    3. Tap Purchase history, then select your beneficiary
    4. Select the Successful purchase you want to resend
    5. The token will be displayed on the screen
    6. Tap on the Share function in the top right of the screen to resend the token
    7. Select your preferred communication channel to resend the token
    8. You have successfully resent your electricity token!

How to manage your accounts 

  • Manage card limits

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. On the bottom of your screen tap Cards
    3. Select the relevant card, then on the drop-down menu tap Card transaction limits
    4. Slide to set your limits
    5. Confirm Limits Change details, then tap Save
    6. Accept the verification request that pops up
    7. Tap Done
    8. You have successfully changed your card limits!

  • Add another account profile

    1. Open your Absa Banking App
    2. On the passcode screen, tap Users on the top right
    3. If you are a registered Absa account holder the message “When adding multiple user accounts, we need to disable your Fingerprint access on the app for safety purposes” will pop up, tap Continue
    4. Tap Add user / Open account
    5. Tap Link this device
    6. For a personal account Enter your ID Number, then tap Next
    7. Agree to the Privacy Statement, then tap Scan face
    8. Accept the verification request sent to your cellphone
    9. Enter your new device nickname, or select Skip to continue
    10. Create a new 5-digit passcode, then re-enter the new passcode to confirm
    11. Your passcode is successfully created
    12. You have successfully added another account profile to your App!
       

    Note: Biometric login will be disabled if more than one profile is added on the Absa Banking App and a passcode will be required for login instead.

  • Update contact details

    1. Login to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu on the bottom right of your screen, then tap Profile
    3. Tap Contact Details, then tap Edit
    4. Add your new contact details, then tap Continue

  • How to apply for Flexi Funeral Cover

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Explore and select Flexi Funeral Cover
    3. Tap Apply now
    4. Select your cover and tap Continue
      If you want to add a member tap Add a family member
      Complete their details and tap Add family member
    5. Tap Continue
    6. Complete the required Details and tap Next
    7. View the details, tick to agree to the terms and conditions and tap Confirm
    8. Your application is approved
      Tap Done
       

    Note: Flexi Funeral Cover offers up to R100 000 of cover and includes Funeral Management Services. Extended family members can also be covered on the Flexi Funeral Cover

  • How to submit a Flexi Funeral Plan claim

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Insurance tile and select your Flexi Funeral insurance (can’t seem to find the Insurance tile on my app)
    3. Tap Submit a claim
    4. Read through the requirements and tap Claim now
    5. Select the deceased member who passed away, the cause of death and tap Continue
    6. Complete the Deceased Details and Tap Continue
    7. View details captured and tick to declare the information supplied is true and correct
      Tap confirm
    8. Accept the verification request
    9. Your claim is successfully submitted
      Tap Done

  • View your policy documents

    1. Log in to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on the Insurance tile 
    3. Select the insurance policy to view its documents
    4. Tap Documents, then select the document you want to view
    5. A PDF version of the document will open  
    6. You have successfully viewed your policy documents!

    Note: Documents for life and short-term policies can be viewed on the Absa Banking App as well as on Absa Online Banking.

  • Update your FICA status

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on your name at the top of the home screen Tap Personal details
    3. Tap Edit to update your Identity information
    4. Tap Upload documents to change your information or to update your FICA status
    5. Tap Add identity document, select the Type of document, then tap Continue
    6. View the File requirements, then tap OK
    7. Choose an option to upload the document
    8. Tap Add proof of residence, select the Type of document, then tap Continue
    9. View the File requirements, then tap OK
    10. Choose an option to upload the document, then tap Continue
    11. Tap Done when your document has been uploaded
    12. You have successfully updated your FICA status!

    Note: The following file types can be uploaded: GIF, JPEG, PDF, PNG and TIFF. The maximum file size you can upload is 4MB. If your file does not adhere to the above rules, it will not be selected and uploaded.
     

    After you have uploaded the documents it can take up to 48 hours before your FICA status will be updated on our system. Please note should we find the files you uploaded to be unsatisfactory, we will ask you to upload quality versions of the files.

  • Place a Notice on your Absa Banking App

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap the Notice to select account
    3. Tap Manage, then Select Place Notice
    4. Select a date by clicking on the calendar icon
    5. Select the account you want the money to be deposited into
    6. Add a withdrawal reference, then tap Next
    7. Accept the Terms and Conditions, then tap Confirm
    8. Accept the verification request
    9. You have successfully submitted your Notice!

  • Resend Notice of payment

    1. Login to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu on the bottom right of your screen
      Tap Beneficiaries

    6. Fill in the details of the Beneficiary for the Notice Payment
    7. Tap My payment notification, then select your preferred notification
    8. Tap Resend payment notification

  • How to add a beneficiary to your Ultimate Protector Plan

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on your Life @ Absa Online policy
    3. Tap Manage
      Tap Manage beneficiaries
    4. Tap Add beneficiary
      Fill in your Beneficiary details
      Tap Continue
    5. Fill in beneficiary contact details
      Tap Continue
    6. Allocate a percentage for each beneficiary or tap Share equally

    7. Review all details

  • How to stop and replace a stolen or retained card (iOS device)

    1. Logon to your Absa Banking App
    2. If you’re using an Android device, tap Menu in the bottom right of your screen
      Tap Cards
      If you’re using an Apple device, tap Cards in the bottom left of your screen
    3. Tap the card you would like to stop and replace
      Tap Stop and Replace
    4. Tap the drop down menu and select the reason for replacing your card
    5. Tap the calendar icon and select the date the card was last used (credit card), or select card type (debit card)
      Tap Continue
    6. Select your delivery method and accept the associated fees
    7. Tap Continue
    8. Accept the verification request that pops up
    9. You have successfully ordered your new card

  • How to change your online banking limit

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu in the bottom right of your screen
    3. Tap Digital limits
    4. Tap Edit in the top right of your screen
    5. Change your limit
      Tap Save
    6. Tap OK to acknowledge the pop-up message
    7. Accept the verification request that pops up
    8. Limit changed successfully
      Tap Done

  • Link your accounts to your Online Banking profile

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu at the bottom right of your screen
    3. Scroll down, then tap Accounts settings
    4. Tap on the switch next to the required account to link it to your online banking profile
    5. Accept the verification request, then tap Save
    6. You have successfully linked your accounts to your Online Banking profile!

  • Reverse a debit order

    1. Login to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu on the bottom right of your screen
    3. Tap Debit Orders
    4. Select the account that was used to make the debit order payment
    5. Under Recent debit orders, tap on the debit order you would like to reverse
    6. View Transaction details, then Tap Reverse Payment
    7. Read the Important Information tap Next
    8. Select a Reason for reversal, Accept the acknowledgement, then tap Reverse payment
    9. Accept the verification request that pops up
    10. You have successfully reversed your Debit order!
       

    Note: Debit orders older than 40 days cannot be reversed on the App.

    The limit for online debit order reversal is R500. Should you need to reverse a higher amount, please email us at debitorder@absa.co.za or visit your nearest branch.

  • How to edit your Ultimate Protector Plan beneficiary

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App

    4. Select the beneficiary that you would like to edit from the list
    5. Fill in the Beneficiary details

    7. Allocate a percentage for each beneficiary or tap Share equally
      Tap Continue.
    8. Review the details
      Tap Confirm
    9. Accept the verification request sent to your registered device
    10. Your beneficiary is successfully updated

  • How to delete an Ultimate Protector Plan beneficiary

    1. Logon to the Absa Banking App
    2. Tap on your Life @Absa Online policy
    3. Tap Manage
      Tap Manage beneficiaries
    4. Tap Remove in the top right of the screen
    5. Tap on the bin icon to select the beneficiary that you want to remove
    6. Tap Yes on the pop up message to remove the beneficiary
    7. Allocate a percentage for each beneficiary or tap Share equally
      Tap Continue.
    8. Review the details
      Tap Confirm
    9. Accept the verification request sent to your registered device
    10. Your beneficiary is successfully updated

  • Auto reinvest your Fixed Deposit Account

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Select Fixed Deposit Account

  • Redeem your Absa Rewards in cash

    1. Login to your Absa Banking App
    2. On your Home screen select your Absa Rewards account
    3. Tap the icon above Spend, then select Cash
    4. Select the account where you want to transfer your cash Rewards
    5. Enter the amount you want to transfer, tap Next, then tap Confirm transfer
    6. Accept the verification request
    7. You have successfully redeemed your cash Rewards!

    2. On the bottom of the screen tap Cards
    3. Select the relevant card on the drop-down tap Temporary lock

    2. Tap Cards, then select the relevant card
    3. Tap Use card when travelling
    4. Select your Departure date, your Return date then tap Activate
    5. Accept the verification request, then tap Done
    6. You have successfully given notice to use your card when travelling!

  • Download a Home Loan e-stamped statement

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Select Home loan account, then tap the Statements tab
    3. Select Download stamped statement
    4. Select the date range, then tap Done
    5. Tap Download to agree to the disclaimer, then tap Continue
    6. Select the file format in which to open your statement
    7. Tap the three dots on the top right to save or share your statement
    8. You have now successfully downloaded your stamped statement!

  • How to download a credit card statement

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Select credit card account
    3. Tap the Statements tab
    4. Tap Download statement
    5. Select date range and tap OK
    6. Select the required statement from the list

    8. You can now view and share the downloaded statement

  • Download a tax certificate

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu on the bottom right of your screen
    3. Scroll down and tap Tax certificates
    4. Tap the calendar icon to select your tax year

    6. Download your chosen tax certificate onto your device
    7.  You have successfully downloaded your tax certificate!

  • Download proof of payment

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu on the bottom right of your screen, then tap Beneficiaries
    3. On the Payments tab, select your beneficiary
    4. Tap Send notice of payment, then select the required payment
    5. Fill in the details of Notice of Payment
    6. Tap My payment notification, then select your preferred notification
    7. Tap Send notice of payment
    8. On the Overview screen, tap Confirm send
    9. You have successfully sent a notification of proof of payment!

  • Download a bank confirmation letter

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. On the bottom right of your screen tap Menu
    3. Scroll down and tap Documents, then tap Bank confirmation letter
    4. Select the relevant account, then Accept the verification request that pops up
    5. Save your letter
    6. You can now view your bank confirmation letter with an option to download

  • Request a replacement card

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App
    2. Tap Menu, tap Card then tap on the card you would like to Stop & Replace
    3. Tap Stop and Replace
    4. Tap on the drop-down menu, then select the reason for replacing your card
    5. Tap the calendar icon, select the date the card was last used, then tap Continue
    6. Select your delivery method, accept the associated fees, then tap Continue
    7. You have successfully requested a replacement card!

    1. Logon to your Absa Banking App
    2. Select Cheque Account
    3. Tap Statements
    4. Select Download stamped statement
    5. Choose the date range
    6. Tap Download

    3. Enter the amount, then select the relevant account

    6. Tap Next, select Beneficiary reference, select a beneficiary payment notification then select your payment notification
    7. Tap on Payment type and tap Pay
    8. Accept the verification request that pops up
    9. You have successfully paid and added a new beneficiary!
