Fraudsters are making use of the following process to get access to the information sent to your Cellphone.

They phone Cellphone users pretending to represent your Service Provider (Vodacom, MTN, Cell C or Virgin Mobile) and advise you that you have won extra airtime. To authenticate you they ask you for the last dialed number on your Cellphone.

The fraudsters then use this information to do a SIM swap at your Service Provider. (The last dialed number is used by the Service Provider as part of the process to do the SIM Swap.) Your valid Cellphone will stop functioning a few minutes after receiving the phone call.

The fraudster now receives all your SMS's and calls on the new SIM card obtained in the SIM swap.

Do not become a victim of this scam. Please do not provide your information to anybody without making sure that you are talking to your own Service Provider
