How to get your cross-border letter

  • What you need to know

    A cross-border letter is a letter from the bank that confirms your vehicle is allowed to travel outside the borders of South Africa.

  • Absa Online

    1. Log in to Absa Online.
    2. Tap Documents on your Vehicle Finance Account.
    3. Tap Request next to Cross-border letter.
    4. Add the names, surnames and ID/passport numbers of the drivers.
    5. Select your travel dates.
    6. Confirm your email address.
    7. Tap Next.
    8. Make sure all your details are correct.
    9. Tap Confirm.
    10. Tap Done.
    11. If your request was successful, your cross-border letter will be emailed to you within a day.

  • Banking App

    1. Log in to your Absa Banking App.
    2. Tap your Vehicle Finance Account.
    3. Tap Documents.
    4. Tap Cross-border letter.
    5. Add the names, surnames and ID/passport numbers of the drivers.
    6. Select your travel dates.
    7. Confirm your email address.
    8. Tap Continue.
    9. Make sure all your details are correct.
    10. Tap Confirm.
    11. If your request was successful, your cross-border letter will be emailed to you within a day.
