Multi-currency Cash Passport

Travelling to a number of countries and need access to different currencies? Why not use a multi-currency cash passport? It can be preloaded with all or any four currencies on a single card

How does it work?

  • You need a valid ID book, a passport and an air-ticket or e-ticket in your name to qualify for a Cash Passport
  • If you are travelling by car or to countries that are not in the common monetary area, you will need to provide your ID and your vehicle’s registration certificate
  • If the currency of your Cash Passport differs from the currency of the country you plan to visit, additional service fees will apply
  • As an alternative to cash passport you can use your Absa Debit or Credit Cards
  • Lost or stolen cards can be replaced
  • Additional cards can also be purchased for family members linked to the same pot of funds, for convenience

Is there any extra security?

  • MasterCards are Chip and PIN protected for increased security
  • Visa cards are PIN protected and have a signature panel at the back
  • If the currency of your Cash Passport differs from the currency of the country you plan to visit, additional service fees will apply
  • Cards can be replaced after a loss or theft

Because Absa respects the path you choose, we have great pleasure in offering a first, the Islamic Banking Multi-currency Cash Passport Card to cater for our customers that bank the Shariah compliant way.

NB - When you return from your trip, any unused currency on the cards must be resold and can be done at Absa free of commission.
