  • Use contactless to pay

    If your credit card has the Contactless icon, it can be used to simply tap the point-of-sale device at a store you are buying goods and services from. The benefits of Contactless or Tap and Pay payments are that your card doesn’t change hands or make contact with the point-of-sale device and, if the transaction is for a low value payment, you don’t have to touch the point of sale device to enter your pin.

  • Shop online

    The reality of the COVID-19 virus is that every person who has it, has the ability to infect people they are in close contact with. We really should only be stepping out to shop for fresh, essential goods and doing the rest of our purchasing online to limit our risk of infection. You can be assured that your card allows you the ability to shop safely online and we use 3D Secure technology to add an extra layer of security for our customers.

    It is crucial for you to never share your password with anyone, and you should know that we will never call you to have your One Time Pin (OTP) read back to us for any reason. We encourage you to shop online during this period to stay safe and to be aware of the safety controls you have on your card when shopping online, to keep your card – and purchase – secure.

  • Be aware of fraudsters

    We have noted an increase in fraudulent activities with fraudsters sending messages to customers that are made to look like they are from Absa. You should know that we will never send you an SMS containing a link to click through to, or ask you to provide us with any passwords or PINs. Stay safe and vigilant, and don’t place yourself in any risk.
