Absa, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group, has closed the doors of its Kwadwesi branch to prepare for relocation to Kenako Mall, to open on 9 February 2015. The new branch will be named ‘Absa Kenako Mall’ and will be located at Shop 46 Kenako Mall, corner of Spondo and Uitenhage Roads, New Brighton.
This new branch will offer a modern and enhanced look-and-feel for the Absa customer, and is part of a Group-wide R1.2bn programme aimed at improving the branch and ATM network. In addition to the standard in-branch services of tellers, an enquiries counter and a retail sales consultant, the new branch will feature advanced cash-handling teller machines and a new business teller to process bulk transactions, reducing the length of queues and waiting times for customers.
Tshiwela Mhlantla, Regional Executive of Retail Banking in the Eastern Cape, said: "Our journey towards a seamless, efficient and digitally enhanced in-branch experience for our customers is really taking shape, and we are excited to see this come to life in the Eastern Cape".
Since 2013 Absa has been re-shaping its branch network across the country, improving the infrastructure and technology so that our customers can physically experience us helping them prosper into the future. The new Absa Kenako Mall Branch is a proud step in the right direction for our valued customers in this region. This exciting journey started in 2013 with Absa’s “research and test lab” Clearwater Mall branch, where a variety of concepts are continuously tested and improved in a live transactional environment.”
The new Absa Kenako Mall branch will also offer customers convenient access to advanced banking solutions such as Absa’s Telephone Banking, and will boast four cash-accepting ATMs, available in eight official languages and four foreign languages. These ATMS will allow customers to perform multiple value-adding functions, such as
• Bill payments (utilising the scanner) • Cash withdrawals
• CashSend™ (initiate and withdrawals) • Balance enquiries
• View mini statement • Make inter-account transfers
• Pay beneficiaries • Make real-time cash deposits
• Make cheque deposits (with card) • Purchase prepaid airtime
• Apply for an instant ATM Loan • Take out a prepaid Funeral Plan
• Pay traffic fines • Conduct ATM PIN and e-Pin functions
Mhlantla adds: “We are committed to becoming a bank that has the customers’ needs at the heart of everything we do, and this is one of the many deliverables of this goal - every step is aimed at building Absa as the ‘Go-To’ bank - the destination of choice for our customers and clients.”
