Get involved, reach out
and uplift our communities
Sesego Cares

Sešego Cares was formed after a trip to a township by the spouses of Absa executives; and all the spouses and partners of Absa employees are encouraged to join them in getting involved in Sešego Cares projects and to help make a difference in our impoverished communities.

Every month, Absa Rewards will match and donate 0,5% of all Cash Rewards to Sešego Cares, at no cost to members; and members also have the options to donate their own Rewards to this initiative.

As a registered (non-profit) section 21 company, Sešego Cares is the perfect platform for getting involved in Absa-supported community initiatives.  Sešego Cares believes that if we continue strengthening our partnerships, help further entrench a culture of caring, taking responsibility for each other all over Southern Africa, our investments in people will reward us with a future that can live up to the dreams of all our citizens.

Projects of Sešego Cares include:

  • Leseding Learning Academy, situated in Orange Farm, benefited from various donations, renovations, desks, chairs, stationery packs and work done is worth more than R 1, 6 million.
  • Benguerra Combined School, located on Benguerra island in Mozambique, affected during the cyclone in February 2007, received stationery packs, library books and women's clothes for learners and community members.
  • Rachel’s Home, an orphanage in Lesotho, was given a borehole and an irrigation system to assist in becoming self sufficient; a classroom worth R 10 000 is being built.
  • Bethesda Outreach Ministry and the surrounding community in Hammanskraal have benefited from a partnership between Sešego Cares, Absa CSI and Absa’s Give As You Earn Programme,  with a borehole, to provide the community with access to water for growing and maintaining their vegetable gardens.
  • In Partnership with School Aid and joint initiatives, which include Everton FC providing soccer coaching clinics for learners in Tembisa and converting old containers into science centres, classrooms and libraries for learning support in schools in Tembisa, Eldorado Park, and Alexandra.
