Absa Cape Epic
The Absa Cape Epic is an exhilarating 8-day off-road mountain bike stage race that follows a challenging route through the beautiful landscapes of the Western Cape. The demanding nature of the Absa Cape Epic is truly a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. A gruelling new route is designed each year; and in 2010 the cyclists covered 722 kilometers that climbed over 14 000 vertical meters (the equivalent of twice up Mount Everest).
Held annually, the race is considered to be the most televised of all time – having generated more than 16 000 hours of TV coverage across the world since its inception in 2004.
Absa has been the proud title sponsor of the Cape Epic since 2006, and is thrilled to be a part of an event that not only makes an impact in the lives of the teams who participate, but also in the lives of the communities who benefit from the race.
