Life at Absa
Meet our People
We value each and every one of our employees. Each individual contributes towards the success of Absa as a whole, and we recognise and reward this contribution with a range of benefits and opportunities to encourage growth and development of each person.
But don’t believe us - Read some of our staff profiles below.
|Rakesh Seethal, Group Tax Specialist|
Rakesh joined Absa in 2008 because he was looking for a position that would challenge him on a daily basis. He believes that Absa is a great company to work for, and has a lot to offer their staff. He finds the freedom to grow within the bank to be refreshing, and hopes to see himself in the leadership of the organisation in the future. Absa has ensured that he is involved in the Absa Development Programme and the Fast track Black Talent programmes, which will result in opportunities for him within the Absa Group and outside of Tax – ensuring that he grows personally and professionally on all levels.
“Commitment and taking care in what you do will not go unrecognised. Being positive, proud of the Absa Brand, exceeding expectations and looking at your role as a career and not a job gives you the edge needed to progress.”
|Kim Royds, Managing Executive Retail Collections|
Kim Royds, Managing Executive: Retail Bank Collections
Kim stands by the motto “It is possible”, and encourages and inspires her team of 2000 to aspire to the same heights – overcoming any challenge and achieving the impossible. Having joined Absa in early 2009, Kim has the immense responsibility of managing a large portfolio that consistently exceeds impairment targets, and is motivated by seeing an innovative spirit come alive.
“It is a great opportunity to interact with people who are innovative and inspired by positive change.
|Nelisiwe Baloyi, General Manager: Head of Commercial Asset Finance|
|Hired by Absa fresh out of high school in 1994, Nelisiwe was a part of the first learnership programme which offered exposure in a number of departments. She is motivated by the knowledge that no matter what she puts her mind to she has made a difference and contributed positively. Her high-point so far has been leading in an economic downturn – ensuring that the balance is maintained between the paradoxes of business and staying connected to the staff.
“The slogan represents an organisation that cares for its people and their customers – being there Today, Tomorrow, Together is a lifetime commitment.”
